01 · The challenge

Making complex contract risk easier to understand.

Contract management involves complex legal concepts, risk considerations and business decisions. The challenge was to translate that subject matter into learning that felt practical and relevant rather than presenting learners with another dense compliance experience.

The learning needed to retain the accuracy of the source material while helping people understand how contract principles and risk considerations connected to the decisions they make.

Complex content doesn’t need to feel complicated.

02 · The experience

Different treatments. One coherent experience.

Rather than relying on one repeated presentation style, the learning used a mix of visual environments, animation, characters and multimedia to give different concepts the treatment that suited them best.

03 · The design response

Design the treatment around the content.

  1. 01

    Make it relevant

Connect abstract contract and risk concepts to recognisable operational contexts and decisions.

  2. 02

    Make it visual

Use illustration, animation and multimedia to reduce reliance on text-heavy explanation.

  3. 03

    Keep it moving

Vary the treatment across topics so complex subject matter does not become one long, repetitive learning experience.

04 · The outcome

Contract learning designed for application, not just completion.

The result was a modular learning experience that translated complex contract and risk content into a more approachable visual format.

Rather than using one treatment repeatedly, different concepts could be explained through the format best suited to them, creating variety while maintaining a coherent learning experience.
